The Arena needs a new floor as the existing one is worn out from 30+ years of use/love from our students.
The Arena is an embodiment of the resourcefulness, frugality and engagement of whole-hearted Arbor community efforts over many years. From it’s origins as a horse barn— and over many years— Arbor parents, faculty, APT and other friends of Arbor volunteered their time and gifted money to transform it into a multi-purpose gym & performance space, plus classrooms and more. It is a space that is beloved by our whole Arbor community and APT wants the whole community to be a part of refreshing it for the next 30 years of use/love.
In Spring 2023, APT voted to use funds that we held over in pandemic to refresh the Arena to address a pressing need for a new floor. Over the summer of 2023, APT will have new walls built to replace the existing drywall and to cover the posts. In addition, we will have the Arena painted inside— which includes the ceiling and high rafters. After Arborfest 2023, we plan to use additional funds raised to install a beautiful rubber gym floor (planned for Winter Break 2023), as well as to add wall mats/padding (timing TBD). Finally, there are plans for a climbing/rock wall space to be added (timing TBD) with funds raised by both our current 2023 Senior families and APT. APT has already raised funds for over 70% of the costs. With your help, we hope to have the funds completely raised between this fundraiser and Arborfest 2023.
How can you help?
We need volunteers. We plan to have a few work parties and if you are willing to gift your time to demo, framing walls or other building efforts, cleaning and more, please reach out to APT Past President 22-23, Heidi Hardman (heidi.hardman@gmail.com).
Purchase Arbor logo wear or donate. Profits from Arbor logo wear will go to the Arena Refresh project. If you want to donate directly to the Arena refresh, you can write a check to APT. There will also be opportunities to donate at Arborfest 2023. Questions? Contact APT President 23-24, JD Hooge (aptpresident@arborschool.org).
